Training for children

Cycling is a fun and practical way to keep active. As a form of transport, it’s good for the environment and for many of us, it’s our first experience of independence.

Learning to ride a bike can contribute to a child’s balance, strength, and control, as well as helping to develop concentration, listening, teamwork, and resilience.

Scotland’s national cycle training for primary school children, Bikeability Scotland, is a progressive programme that helps children develop their bike handling skills and hazard perception, alongside an understanding of bike safety checks and road safety.
