How can I become an instructor?
How instructor training equips nursery staff to plan and deliver the Play on Pedals programme to nursery-aged children.
Play on Pedals is a training programme that supports and develops the cycling skills of nursery-aged children.
Through a series of fun and imaginative activities, children develop their balance and control skills, through balance and pedal bikes.
Aimed at pre-school children, Play on Pedals has strong links to the Curriculum for Excellence covering different areas within early level such as Health and Wellbeing, Literacy, Maths, Technology and Science.
Play Together on Pedals is a preschool and family cycling project, run as a partnership between Cycling UK, Cycling Scotland, and Play Scotland.
Since 2014, the project has helped to teach more than 8,000 preschool children in Scotland to ride a bike. This helps them to develop important life skills like coordination and balance. It also breaks down the barriers young people face to participating in physical activity – especially important in areas of health inequalities and multiple deprivation.
