Web accessibility

We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • navigate the website using a keyboard, instead of a mouse
  • navigate the website using speech recognition software
  • change browser settings such as colours/contrast and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off screen
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Our website meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 (WCAG2.2) criteria to AA-level and where possible, some of the AAA criteria.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

We’re working on it

We’re doing all we can to ensure the content of this website is as accessible as possible but there are some less accessible elements. Please note:

  • older PDF documents aren't fully accessible to screen reader software. We are working to configure and adapt new PDFs.
  • some images in the website may not yet have alternative text
  • the built-in screen reader with Edge browser does not recognise links styled as buttons on the site, however, in Immersive Reader mode, the screen reader will recognise the links. We recommend using this mode for if using Edge for screen reading.
