Cycle ride leader and cycle activity leader

Cycle Ride Leader

This one-day course covers the skills necessary to lead group cycle rides on quiet roads and recognised cycle paths.

It is for confident riders with good communication skills who want to lead group rides, often with novice or inexperienced riders. Participants are encouraged to think about the types of rides that they will be leading before attending the course.

This course provides a useful introduction to leadership techniques; however, it is not a substitute for established off-road or mountain bike leadership qualifications.

Cycle Activity Leader

This one-day course has been designed for people wanting to introduce cycling activities to groups and individuals with additional support needs.

Participants should have previous cycling experience and be familiar with the needs and requirements of their audience. Course tutors will tailor the content of the course to support outcomes relevant to this audience.

Cycle Activity Leader is not aimed at existing cycle trainers looking to introduce inclusive cycle training opportunities. In this case, Cycling Scotland recommends the UK Disability Inclusion Training or equivalent.
