Traffic survey results - May 2026
Cycling Scotland undertake traffic surveys twice a year - once in May, and again in September. These surveys have been running in some locations since 2017.
These 48-hour video snapshots, taken at location across Scotland, add to our overall monitoring picture by providing detailed information about all modes of road transport.
The latest traffic survey was carried out at 89 locations, in the following local authorities:

- Comhairle nan Eilean Siar
- Dumfries and Galloway Council
- Dundee City Council
- East Ayrshire Council

- Fife Council
- Glasgow City Council
- Inverclyde Council
- Midlothian Council
- North Ayrshire Council

The majority of the surveys were conducted primarily on 13th-14th May 2026, with two reshoots required on 28th-29th May at Caplethill Road and Paisley Road in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire due to technical issues.
All mode transport data from 13th-14th May from multimodal AI sensors has also been supplied by the following local authorities, and included in the May 2026 results:
