Cycling Scotland undertake 48-hour traffic surveys twice a year - in May and September – in order to monitor cycling and mode share across Scotland. These surveys are funded by Transport Scotland. Surveys were carried out by Nationwide Data Collection on 13th and 14th May 2026, capturing all modes of transport. 89 locations were selected, in partnership with local authorities.  

Two reshoots were required on 28th-29th May at Caplethill Road and Paisley Road in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire due to technical issues.

Ensuring that every local authority is represented in the results, Orkney Islands Council and Shetland Islands Council supplied all-mode transport data from multimodal AI sensors on 13th-14th May
